how do i get a broken screw out of the bottom of the toilet to replace it. its on the right bottom side under
there are two plastic caps at the bottom near the floor you take the caps
off and tighten the screws, wellthe screw broke off even with the
/>part l shouldve screwed to tighten how do l get screw out so l can
replace it with a new screw and nut to tighten toilet it moves when you
sit on it.
remove the toilet and replace with new screws used for the
toilet mounting. Once the water is off, it is easier to remove the tank
1st as it not so heavy. Might as well replace the tank screws, rubber
gaskets and then have to replace the toilet flange wax ring. Once the old
wax is cleaned then the old screws including the broken one slides off.
You need to remove ur toilet to replace the bolts. First turn
off the water supply to the toilet & flush. Disconnect water supply line
to the toilet. You can remove the tank to make the toilet lighter but it is
not necessary. Use a sponge to remove excess water from tank & bowl.
Unscrew the other bolt & lift toilet up & over. Clean all the old wax from
the wax ring from toilet bottom & flange on floor. Inspect the flange &
make sure there aren't any cracks in it. Insert new bolts in flange. I like to run an extra nut over the bolt before I put the toilet back on to keep the bolts in place. Install new wax ring & place bowl over bolts & press the toilet down so it gets a good seal. Alternate tightening bolts but not so tight that you crack the toilet. Check for level on bowl(front to back & side to side) & install rubber shims if necessary. Put tank back on & reconnect water supply line.Use the toilet for a couple days & check the bolts again to see if they need any more tightening after the toilet settled in. Install ur bolt caps & caulk around the front & sides of the toilet base leaving the back part uncaulked to detect any future leaks.
On the toliets ive replaced, if its what im thinking its a bolt
head on the underside with a nut on top that you tighten right? you cant
see the bolt but you may have to take the whole toliet up off the floor
and theres a ring that sits on the floor that has a wax ring on it, that
the wax ring and the ring and the bolts should fall out, then replace the
wax ring with a new one and buy new bolts and maybe a new flange to go
under the toliet to.
